2nd Video Shoot

Location: Barking

Aim: To video scenary footage

Filming:

This was quick vide shoot and I wanted to capture a bit of scenary that I could use to break up some of the footage. I captured shot of smoke coming out of the pipe and into the air; this was done by leaning out of a window. I figured this would be good idea as the title of the song is called "Smoking Section".

Problems With Filming:

The only problem i came across when filming was trying to lean out of the window without falling and trying my best to keep my hand steady.

Editing:

Editing this footage did not take that long and all i did was cut the clip down as I only needed a few seconds of the clip; and then copy and paste that same clip twice as the clips appears more than once in the video. For one of the copies of the clip, i did make the clip play in reverse. Causing the 'smoke' that shown in the clips to appear to the audience as if it going back into the pipe where it just came from.

Editing Problems:

The only problem i encountered when editing was cutting the clip at the right part as filming the clip out of the window was hard... So the shot was a little bit 'shakey'.

1st Video Shoot

Location: Barking (My House)

Aim: To video the first verse of the song using variety of different angles.

Props:

For the props I did create my own ciggarette to prevent any health issues for the actor and female clothing; which will be used in one of the shots. I did inform the actor to dress urban as the genre of my music video is rap.

Problems:

I did encounter a few problems and this caused me to change the beginning of my storyboard. The actor got my instructions incorrect and bought a keyboard used for computers instead of piano keyboard. Since I did not want to waste this day of filming I decided to re plan my storyboard and work with the props that I did have. Since I decided to change my ideas of filming this then meant that I would have to use myself in the filming as one of the characters. This was a bit tricky as I had to position the camera in the right place and let it begin filming, before I jump in front of the camera to act.

Editing:

Editing this footage was not hard to begin with as I restricted my footage in making sure I did not film any unnecessary footage. To begin with I started putting the footage in order before I began cutting parts of the footage that I did not need. Once the footage was in order I then copied the soundtrack that I will be using for my music video. I then had to edit the footage in time with the music, as the song itself is quite a upbeat track. Some effects were used such as slowing/speeding down certain clips, playing clips in reverse/forward and making few clips appear in black and white. The clips shown in black and white are significant as it symbolises memories from the past.

Problems With Editing:

When editing my footage i realised that after editing all the footage, I still needed to add more footage for the verse. I found few problems with making clips play backwards in reverse as I had put more than one special effect on the same clip. So when I played the clip back it meant that the clips would freeze or pause for seconds. So I had to remove all effects done to the clips and start again.

Problems/Solutions

Because of the time of year it may be hard to film some of the footage outside due to inappropiate weather.

Liverpool street station may become over crowded at certain times where it will be hard for me to film and may jepradize the safety of some the equipment. Therefore i will have to film either early in the morning or late in the evening to aviod 'rush hour'.

What inspired me?

I was inspired by the film Sin City as in this film all the characters are linked together. Characters are introduced to the audience at a early stage in the film but their purpose is not made known until later... Below is a link to a short clip of the film Sin City

I was also inspired by another Hip Hop artist called Kanye West as his video is also narrative with similiar story to mine and he is also lip singing throughout the video.

My Ideas For My Music Video

My music video is going to be narrative as it will be telling a story based upon relationships within different couples. However each character is going to be linked to the other characters throughout the music video. Each couple will be wearing the same colours which is significant as it will allow the audience to be able to identify the couples!

There will be variety of different shots, however most of the footage will take place in Liverpool Street Station. The rest of the footage that takes place will be carried out in my bedroom and various places near Liverpool Street Station.
